SING-Canada is a workshop that covers the integration of western science and social science through an Indigenous lens; combining the use of cutting-edge technology with place-based knowledge in the context of LANDBACK.

In 2023, I joined SING Canada Faculty team as Junior Faculty!
The SING-Canada workshop introduces/trains Indigenous students and community members on mobile sequencing technology. This exemplifies how Indigenous communities can maintain sovereignty and governance in research.
In May 2024, SING-Canada hosted the Global Indigenous Leadership in Genomics Symposium at the University of British Columbia-Vancouver.
We brought together over 120 Indigenous scholars and community members across the globe to learn from and connect with each other.
IndigiData: Indigenous Data Science Education
IndigiData is a data sovereignty workshop that centers Indigenous Knowledge in data science and bioethics, led by Indigenous data scientists.
IndigiData is a data sovereignty workshop that centers Indigenous Knowledge in data science and bioethics, led by Indigenous data scientists.
In 2025, the IndigiData workshop will be focused on Indigenous Health and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and be hosted on the lands of the Ak-Chin Maricopa Community in Arizona.
Indigenous college students and community members are encouraged to apply. Learn from Indigenous biologists and data scientists across Turtle Island! Travel and accommodation expenses are covered.

After attending IndigiData 2022, I was invited to to be on the organizing committee and serve as an instructor for IndigiData.
Last year's workshop focused on Biodiversity and Biocollections - a significant theme in my own research!
